What is the active ingredient that makes coconut oil effective at what it does?
For moisterising and hydrating purposes its the fatty acids in it, namely linolic acid. Its an omega 6 fatty acid that also has the anti-inflammatory properties.
Do you mean for consumption or topical application? Well I guess either way fatty acids would be beneficial because it is saturated fats which are decent (good kind)
Aside from the linoleic acid there is also the popular lauric acid. I think the guy above is mixed up between the two.
Lauric acid is the saturated fat good for consumption and linoleic acid for the anti-inflammation.
